Vancouver Island will leave you misty-eyed
Ten days in one of the finest sea kayaking areas in the world. Come to Vancouver Island and experience its mystique.
This is what I wrote in my journal during my last visit to the area:
"The Pacific Ocean breaks over white sand beaches. Primordial rainforests grow on the edge of the coastal line. Far away high mountaintops rise up and form a scenic panorama. In the seas both whales and salmon live side by side. The black bear and grizzly bear wander somewhere in these fabulous woods. A solitary golden eagle glides silently across the skies and gazes over its domain."
I’d be the first to admit that these natural sights made me somewhat emotional. However, I can assure you that a similar effect will await any visitor to the area.
A Varied Kayaking Tour
The tour will begin and end in the village of Port Hardy situated in the northern part of Vancouver Island in British Columbia. There is a domestic flight connection to Port Hardy departing from Vancouver. It is a swift flight that takes around 40 minutes.
During the kayaking tour we will move both in the shelter of islets and across open waters. This tour will therefore be more suitable to kayakers with previous experience. You don’t need to be a kayaking specialist, but it could prove useful if you’ve paddled for a few summers and are also familiar with life in the great outdoors.
The Lure of the Beaches
The sandy beaches will be our home. We will sleep in tents and prepare our food with camping stoves and over open fire. To share and prepare food together is pleasant and the tour fee will include the ingredients for three meals per day.
The Pacific Ocean around Vancouver Island is famous for its fauna. Don’t be surprised if you come across porpoises, dolphins, whales and black bears.
