A sea kayaking expedition in Ireland 2008

On one side, sea as far as the eye can see, while on the other side a green and hilly landscape which is abruptly cut off by steep cliffs. Large surging waves that purposefully roll towards the cliffs and crash with all their force on to them. The air is filled with a roar as the West Coast of Ireland is constantly being pummelled. The soft landscape and the eternal onslaught of the sea enchant the traveller.

An island where every sea kayaker can find adventure. The expedition I will be offering will be carried out in co-operation with sea kayaking specialist Olly Sanders.  Together we will be leading this expedition on the West Coast of Ireland. Exactly where the paddling will take place is impossible to say in advance. The weather and wind conditions will decide that. The flexibility that this entails means that we will be able to ensure the best possible conditions irrespective of the weather.

We will rendezvous in Dublin and travel onwards by minibus. We will supply you with a kayak, paddle and life jacket. You will need to bring along paddling clothing as well as enough equipment for a week in a tent. During the expedition we will be sleeping in tents and preparing our own food with camping stoves.

Our philosophy is to involve you in all the decisions we make as instructors concerning the choice of route, weather conditions and tidal currents etc. This will entail that you will learn new things about paddling in demanding areas.
