See Greenland and choose between two real humdingers

Last summer I led two walks on Greenland for the trekking company High Places. This year I return to these surroundings as the two walks are now an established part of my co-operation with High Places.

The natural surroundings on the eastern coast of Greenland are simply fabulous. A beautiful mountain ridge is situated between the sea and the permanent ice sheet that covers the majority of Greenland. Deep fjords twist and twine between the mountain ranges, while some inlets are filled with icebergs, which give the surrounding vistas a sense of grandeur.

We will walk along few of the established trails, as we will strive to make our own way in mother nature. The sparse Arctic vegetation will make the terrain easier to negotiate. Greenland’s sinuous plants bloom during the brief summer and give the rugged landscape a dash of colour.  A pleasant surprise last time round were the whales we saw during the boat trip to the departure point.   

Wild Walks. 14 days. Suitable for those who prefer to travel with a lighter rucksack.  The tour will consist mainly of day trips, although we will also carry all our gear (15-20 kgs) during a four day long trek. The idea is to reach the most remote areas on the coast and to make day trips to the peaks from our base camp. We will only carry a light rucksack during the daytrips.     

 
Iceberg Trail. 17 days. This is suitable for those with some experience of walking several days with a heavy rucksack (15-20 kgs). We will reduce our load by stopping off at previously established supply depots. As well as from our depots, we will also receive food deliveries from local hunters and fishermen. We will be walking along the most spectacular parts of the coastal mountains. You can check out the day programme of the walk and other useful travel information here (in English).

The price includes transfers from Iceland to Greenland, food, accommodation in Greenland, two nights in Reykjavik, as well as all the transfers in Greenland. You only need to get yourself to Reykjavik. We can also at your convenience and expense arrange the flight to Reykjavik. If so, please contact me for a separate offer.
